In Art, we learned about primary, secondary and tertiary colours using the colour wheel. We also explored how artists use vibrant and muted palettes. We created our own muted colours through mixing paint.
5H visited Whickham School for a practical science session where they tested different foods. we also learned about using scientific equipment safely.
In RE, we learned about the Christian festival of Pentecost. We used symbols of Pentecost to create our own art. ;
Last half term, Year 5 developed their skills of dribbling and controlling the ball . They applied these skills when playing games.
Today our Year 5 and 6 athletics team have been announced as the over all winners at the Gateshead SSP indoor athletics finals today! They proudly came away with gold medals, the champions trophy and a place in the County Finals!

Saltwell Park is one of six Fields of Remembrance around the country. Our RE Ambassadors visited the park to meet a representative of the Royal British Legion. During half term, ten of our budding gardeners helped the volunteer group ‘Planting up Whickham’ plant winter flowers around St Mary’s Green and the shopping area. The organisers were super impressed with the children’s efforts, manners, attitudes and willingness to help. Well done everyone!
