Some of the children in Year 5 have taken part in Bikeability this week . It is a Government national cycling scheme that has helped them learn practical cycling skills and understand how to cycle on today’s roads.
Year 5 have started their DT unit on textiles. The first step is threading a needle and tying a knot. Perseverance is required! We have also learned how to do running stitch and back stitch.

5L visited Whickham school for a Science taster lesson. They used various Science equipment to test for starch and sugars in food solutions.
We are learning about the Anglo-Saxons in History, so we examined some artefacts, and discussed what questions we wanted to ask about them. We looked at how historians and achaeologists use sources like this to learn about the past. Article 29
In Science, Year 5 have been exploring properties of materials linked to their uses. Today, we investigated which material slowed down the process of ice melting. We also discussed careers that would use science knowledge of properties , such as a design structural engineer.
The children took part in a French art competition. They had to research a French artist’s style of art and then replicate that style to design sport’s characters linked to the 2024 Olympics. The French ambassadors chose a winner from each year which was a very difficult job! Well done to these
