Year 1 have been developing their keyboard skills this afternoon. They logged into the lap tops independently and drew a picture of their choice.
Front Street’s Key Stage 1 choir have been practising some songs in preparation for tomorrow’s performance in assembly. It will be their first performance together and they’re all super excited to show off their singing talents! IMG_5606
As part of their RE topic Year 1 walked to St Mary’s Church where they looked at the different parts of the church such as the altar, the font and the pews. There was great fun dressing up in the vicar’s special clothing! At the end the children were given the opportunity to ask their own ques
Year 1 had their parent sharing assembly this morning and they were all amazing! They showed their adult how they use special friends to spell words in phonics and how they use rekenreks in maths to help with their maths skills. Children and adults joined in our counting to 20 action song!
In geography Year 1 were finding north, south, east and west using compasses.
On Monday (14th July), a circus skills workshop came to school to teach Year 1 some circus skills. It was so much fun! The children all had a great time with hoops, hats, juggling clubs, balancing plates and more. It was certainly an experience Year 1 won’t forget. Linked to articles: 13, 15 , 29
On Thursday (12th July), Year 1 travelled to The Baltic to look at some amazing art work! They created their own masterpiece using a variety of different coloured paints; cutting up the painted paper to make a collage of fruit. We all had a lovely day! A huge thank you to all of our parent-helpers.
Year 1 love to read their library books on a Friday! The children enjoy looking at books by themselves or in pairs and have fun talking about the different characters they meet in the stories!
