Year 1

We have been busy practising our passing and shooting skills today with our Basketball Coach from The Eagles!! we are definitely starting to improve 😀

Last week, 1G were very busy learning about bridges for our whole school STEM topic ‘Journeys’. Ann, a STEM ambassador came in to tell us all about STEM. Today we welcomed Miss Monica and Miss Wang to our school for the next two weeks. They will be working in 2Sand 5G. We presented them with home and away food packs. They brought us some amazing gifts too and we have even been learning some Chinese!!

We have had a fantastic morning at Baltic studying the bridges across The Tyne from the viewing platform.  We sketched our favourite bridge, drew with a continuous line and even drew with our eyes shut!!!  We then designed and made our own bridge…we were very impressed with our skills!! Article

We had a special visitor in year one yesterday…Ann is a STEM ambassador and talked to the children about journeys and suitable materials…we even made our own chemical reaction footprint!!!!!

Meet Our Reading Champions. They have read and reviewed a set of new books from Waterstones. Their reviews will be taken to the bookshop  to be put on display. Next term the Reading Champions will share their books with their year group and in assembly.  

We enjoyed  whole music workshop this morning!

Wow wow wow! Our cooks have been so busy preparing this amazing dinner. Some of the desserts look too good to eat! Look out for some updates later to see your child enjoying their lunch with their friends!

Our second Book Swap for the term is ready for tomorrow. Bring in a book to swap. There are plenty to choose from and some books look brand new. I hope it’s as popular as the first one.
