Year 1

What a special way to finish our final Yoga Club session — with parents and children from Reception to Year 3 all joining in together! It was such a joy to see everyone moving, breathing, and smiling side by side. This session was extra meaningful for me, as it marked my last yoga club at the scho

Year 1 have thoroughly enjoyed their most recent Design and Technology module to plan and create a new chair for baby bear. Today they had fun building and testing their chairs. They then evaluated their design to show how they could improve it.  

We were very pleased to see so many adults join us for our Queen Elizabeth sharing assembly. The crowns and the pictures of the Queen were fantastic! p      

The children had a fantastic time completing lots of various sporting activities with the young leaders and Whickham Comprehensive.      

The children enjoyed tasting different fruits and yoghurts to make a healthy breakfast.         

It was lovely to see so many adults join us for our sharing assembly. The children told the story of the Great Fire of Gateshead using actions. Children helped their adults to create fire pictures. It was amazing!

In PE the children in Year 1 have been enjoying ‘Dance’ with their instructor this half term.  They have made great progress in their routine as well as gaining in confidence and leading their class in a dance move.  They also carried out a performance for the other class. Super Movers!

This week Year 1 have planted a variety of vegetables! We imagined that we were vegetable farmers and used our science knowledge to become expert farmers. We thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of planting vegetables and hope they sprout soon!

1R loved World Book Day! We spent the day discussing our favourite books and reading lots of stories. We were very impressed with all of the children’s costumes!  

As part of our PSHE curriculum, the children created a set of instructions for making a jam sandwich. The children had to set themselves a goal and consider how to achieve it. They were very successful!
