Year 5

The next Sportsability event was held last week and our regular crew enjoyed an afternoon of games involving striking and hitting. Some amazing skills – rounders team soon!

We took 3 year 5 teams to The Glebe this week for the cricket tournament. We had a great full day of Kwik Cricket with 6 games, consisting of 4 overs, 8 bowls in each over. One of our teams came in third place bagging a super bronze medal!  

As part of art and DT we spent time learning to perfect our sewing, using different stitch types and adding embellishments. Remember these? The trundle wheels were out! We spent a maths lesson measuring perimeter and area of objects and surfaces around the yard.  We used mm, cm and m and converted between them all when back in class.

#teamfrontstreet SMASHED it tonight at the first ever Dunston Swimming Gala. Four amazing ?medals?- one for a non-swimmer last year who’s now a medal winning backstroke superstar – AND the overall ?Team Winners Trophy?. Seeing the most amazing beaming faces on podiums is what makes it all worth it

What a day! 3miles walked around some of the most interesting and beautiful buildings in Newcastle focussed around design, innovation and the past, present and future. We explored innovation at the Old Post Office design studios, looked at the future of transport with The Hyperloop at The Ryder Coop

At last our canvas work is finished! I think you’ll agree these would look great on any wall!

We were so lucky today, the amazing music team came in to our school for a musical celebration of all things football! What great timing after England amazing win last night. The atmosphere in the hall was electric. Take a look at the photos. IMG_2713  

The children have been busy working on newspaper articles for the ‘Our School’ feature in The Chronicle. On Thursday 5th July Front Street will take centre spread showcasing the amazing talent across our school. A mad dash to the newsagents to get your copy on Thursday might be in order!
