Year 5

Mr Robinson visited us from Whickham School, to teach us some French. We learned about how to describe clothes and how to say what we like to wear. We played lots of fun games together. Articles 28, 29

Today 12 children competed at the Gateshead SSP cross country event at Watergate Park. A HUGE well done to you all! 🌟

In Year 5, we have been experimenting with colour. We have learned that if you mix complementary colours, you can create a muted palette. We have looked at how and why artists use muted colours. Article 29

Year 5 have been working on their dance skills in P.E. This means thinking about working as a team, and matching our movements to the music. Can you guess the style of music we are dancing to? Articles 24 and 29

This week Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their music lesson, where they recorded Walk Like An Egyptian using graphic scores!

In History, we are learning about the Anglo-Saxons. We examined different artefacts, looking at what they were made from and how they were used. We recorded questions about the people who owned and made these things, and we’ll try to answer them this term.

As part of our Geography unit of work on coasts, Year 5 visited Marsden beach to explore coastal erosion. We had a brilliant day at the annual Saltwell Park Fun Run. There were hundreds of people there from schools all over Gateshead. The sun was shining and we even enjoyed a picnic lunch after the race. Articles 24, 29
