Year 1

Today we started practising for our Sports Day races and we were very excited! The real test of teamwork came when we strapped ourselves to a partner to practise the 3 legged race…it was great fun 😀😀😀 Article 28, 29, 31

The children loved their first DT lesson on Structures. We discovered what a freestanding structure is, what a windmill is and what the main components are. Today they designed their windmill. Article 28,29

Today we mixed a little bit of Art Skills with our Jubilee celebrations. Art skill 4 Article 28,29

The children have been busy creating a T-shirt design and then using fabric crayons to create it – they are very proud of their handiwork. Art Skill 5 Article 28,29

What a fun afternoon the children have had! They have practised their jumping, throwing and running skills, not to mention the walk up to Whickham School which tired them out 😊😊

In Y1 we definitely learn more and remember more when our lessons are practically based. Today the children made their own windsock in Science after learning about the different methods used to measure weather.  The children were so excited to take them home to continue their investigation. Article

We enjoy mastering our maths knowledge and skills using concrete, pictorial and abstract methods when needed… Article 28,29
