Our History Ambassadors spent the morning with Local Historian Richard Pears, who took them on a history tour around the village. During our walk, we learned all sorts of interesting facts about Whickham’s history. Did you know “Whickham” is Anglo-Saxon, meaning “estate with a quickset hedge”?

At Front Street, our children are encouraged to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it. Our curriculum helps to provoke and provide answers about the natural and human aspects of the world and encourages the children to ‘think like a Geographer.’
This morning a group of year one children went to Gateshead Power League to take part in the Gateshead SSP Girls Football Festival. Over the last few weeks, year 2 have been working hard to write information leaflets all about African animals. Today we shared our leaflets with year 1 so that they could also learn all about Africa.
