We took part in a workshop with Durham University, learning all about Ancient Greece. We became archaeologists and investigated different artefacts. We learned about Ancient Greek architectural styles and city states. We even performed Euripedes’ ‘Medea’, a play that is over 2000 years old!
Today we had visitors from the Laing and Shipley art gallery. We looked at paintings with vibrant colours and matched an emotion to the painting. We worked in groups to produce warm and cool colour paintings.
Year 2 have started looking at their new artist Henri Matisse. The children did a warm up first, creating darker and lighter shades with their pencils. They then chose one of his paintings that they liked and thought about words to describe them.
