As part of our Geography unit of work on coasts, Year 5 visited Marsden beach to explore coastal erosion. We had a brilliant day at the annual Saltwell Park Fun Run. There were hundreds of people there from schools all over Gateshead. The sun was shining and we even enjoyed a picnic lunch after the race. Articles 24, 29
We had some special visitors from the Fire Service, who came to help us learn about water safety. We now know how to keep safe near rivers, canals, lakes and at the beach. We also know what the different beach flags mean. Which flags do you know? Articles 6 & 17

Year 5 enjoyed the events today. The ice pops provided by FOFS were a welcome reward at the end!
Y5 attended a Striking and Fielding event at Whickham School . The Young Leaders organised a circuit of activities which helped to develop our throwing, catching , striking and fielding skills.
Did you know there is a city in the Amazon rainforest? Year 5 have been researching Manaus and comparing it to their own city life.
