Year 3 have started their new PE unit this term: tennis! The children quickly recapped their previous knowledge of the ready position and how to swing the racket to ensure the ball goes in the right direction.

3C had a fantastic time on Friday afternoon, using their knowledge of pneumatics to create an air powered toy for a Year 1 child. They used their creativity to make their toy eye catching and made sure that part of their toy moved using a pneumatic system. Take a look at their fabulous creations.

This week, the Year 3 children have started their new science unit: LIGHT! We thought about why we need light, sorted light sources into natural and manmade and then explored if light can bend or just travel in straight lines.
Today, our Year 3 and 4 hockey team competed in the Gateshead SSP tournament at Whickham School. Front Street were proud to be the runners up: most of the team had never played hockey before training sessions!! Fantastic! Congratulations to you all. Your team work was outstanding! 🌟 #teamfrontstr
KS2 had a fantastic time watching and participating in the Gateshead Music Workshop. There was singing, dancing, and plenty of opportunities to play interesting instruments. A great time was had by all!

Year 3 continued their science topic light this week and used a data logger to measure the amount of light that passes through different materials. They measured the light in lux and predicted which of the materials would let the most light pass through.
