We have been designing a fruit salad that will keep Mr Grinling the Lighthouse Keeper healthy…and today we practised our cutting skills and made our fruit salads. We loved eating them too!!!!

This morning year one have been making their fruit salads following on from the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Picnic.’ We enjoyed cutting our fruit and eating it!
We had a great time at Whickham school this afternoon…we used all our skills, including, jumping, balancing and throwing, to complete fun activities.
For topic 1B used their sense of taste to try; sweet, salty and bitter foods. Take a look at their faces…
1S have tried; lemons, dark chocolate, coffee, crisps, honey and rice cakes today for their science experiment!
1S had great fun counting objects today…then we used the balance scales to find which amount was the greatest…using maths vocabulary that wowed me…greater than, most, largest, less than, least, equal, same as…
1S had a great time in PE today…we were practising our basic skills, learning how to walk, jog, run, skip, gallop and side step!!!

We had great fun making a 3D model of a Lighthouse today…it’s amazing what you can do with card, paint, foil and a yogurt pot!!! ?
We have had an amazing day at Souter Lighthouse…we all climbed to the top too…we were very brave!!! The children loved seeing the rooms in the lighthouse and after their climb to the top we enjoyed the sunshine in the Lighthouse grounds ?
