Week 2 of art club and look what we’ve created!
As part of transition work to Whickham School, 5L enjoyed a workshop session with the art department. They explored clay to make finger pots, which showcased their creativity and imagination skills. Once fired in the kiln, we will then be able to paint them. Articles 28,29
In Art, we have looked at how different artists use the contrast between light and dark in their work. We used torches to create shadows, then used the shadows as starting points for our own drawings. It was lots of fun! Article 29
After learning about Chinese New Year in nursery, some of the children were very keen to make a Chinese Dragon. They took turns to add to the Dragon’s head and loved working out is to attach the different parts. Once it was dry we showed the children in Reception and year 2. Then we had our own

Today the Arts Ambassadors visited North East Art Collective in Newcastle. They got to see work by local artists (including Mrs Robson!) and even meet one of the artists, Graham Caffull. Look at our work in the style of Matisse and our still life drawings!
Article 29 In Year 5, we have been learning about the artist Banksy and how he uses a stencil to create his artwork. We explored how to use stencils to create an image and then used different media to create different effects.
Today we investigated how to make secondary colours by mixing them with primary colours. Look at the new colours we made!
Today we combined pitch and rhythm to make melodies. We used the glockenspiels to play baby shark and twinkle twinkle.
Year 4 have looked carefully at the buildings designed by the architect Norman Foster. They have tried to replicate parts of the buildings.
