Christmas has arrived in Reception this week! Our year group elf arrived on Monday with a letter to the children explaining he was here to watch for good behaviour and good manners. On Friday, the children were very excited as they put up the class Christmas tree. The children worked together in small groups to order the instructions and we then used them to put up the class tree. (Article 14, 28 and 29).

We were lucky enough to learn new information about Northern Saints at Durham Cathedral. After a blustery snowy walk, we  took part in lots of activities! Article 14

Article 10, 20,22 After discussing Paddington and the reasons he left Peru, the children generated questions to ask a refugee showing real empathy. We also discussed what were the most important things to take with us if we were a refugee.

What a busy week we have had! Thank you to everyone who was able to come in and help the children make their own bird feeders and binoculars. Everyone really enjoyed it. We talked about what birds eat and why we feed them. Article 28 The right to a good quality education.

We watched the beginning of the film ‘Paddington’ as part of the ‘Outright’ day.  We talked about how Paddington was feeling when there was an earthquake and when he left on his own to go to London.  We learnt the word ‘refugee’ and decided that Paddington was a refugee.  We made a list of words
