Reception have enjoyed investigating movement outdoors, using the windy weather conditions. It was too windy to carry out our planned play, so the children decided to make kites and try to fly them outside!
Reception have had an egg-cellent week so far! On Monday 10 eggs arrived in Reception. We have been carefully watching the chicks hatching in the incubator. On Wednesday morning we had three chicks. We named them Isabella, Rainbow and Sunshine. Two more eggs started to pip on Wednesday afternoon. On

Reception went on a bear hunt today at the Hermitage Garden. They did lots of activities while they were there. They enjoyed acting out the ‘Going on a bear hunt’ story, playing musical instruments and singing, sequencing the story, colouring in and going on a number hunt. We even found a bear
Reception had their first ‘Little rugby’ session today. Coach Connor helped us practise throwing and catching the rugby ball, we even tried to spin the ball and then catch it! We had a great time and can’t wait until next week to do some more.
Rachel from Galliford try came to talk to us about building our new school. We got to try on hi vis jackets and real Galliford try hard hats. We were also given a challenge to draw a picture of a builder to remind builders what they need to remember to wear. Lliford
We have been learning about the celebration of ‘Chinese New Year’ this week. We listened to the story of Chinese New Year, made lanterns, used chopsticks, danced to Chinese music and tasted Chinese food.
Reception enjoyed tasting different toppings on pancakes and having pancake races on Pancake Tuesday. We learnt about why we have ‘Pancake Tuesday’ and how it is celebrated in different countries!
Our new topic in Reception is ‘Fairy tales’. Last week we looked at the fairy tale ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’. We tasted porridge, acted out the story and sorted objects by size to match Daddy bear, Mummy bear and Baby bear.
