An important part of learning about British values is understanding how our justice system works.
We have been studying Alfred Noyes’ ‘The Highwayman’ and the class had to choose whether he was guilty as charged or innocent. We split into defence and prosecution and held a trial in the class to decide. After each piece of evidence children could choose to stick or move sides. At the end we looked at which side had them most support – and the prosecution won! He was sentenced to life in prison for theft, evading justice and grievous bodily harm.
