The community came together today in memory of Katie Slyderink and took part in the 2015 Whickham Waddle. 150 children from Front Street Nursery and Reception, Rose Villa Day Nursery and Swalwell Nursery joined Simon, Thomas and Anna Slyderink to walk through Whickham in order to raise money for the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund. On our way we visited ‘Katie’s Garden’ in The Hermitage Garden and ended up in Chase Park. We enjoyed refreshments as well as games and time on the play area. It was a wonderful day made possible by the fantastic people of Whickham. A big thank you to the Police Officers who stepped in last minute and helped us cross the roads! An extra well done has to be given to the children and staff from Swalwell who walked all the way up the hill to join us! Thank you to Rose Villa for supplying the ice pops and to Friends of Front Street for the juice. The weather managed to (just about) behave itself and it was all recorded by the local news! What an amazing day. Well done everyone.
