Reception

We love doing experiments in reception.  Last week we did a firework experiment and this week the children wanted to have a volcano experiment.  We made the volcano with a bottle and play dough.  We then added washing up liquid, red food colouring, bicardonate of soda and vinegar to make the volc

The children in reception have been very excited for bonfire night.  We discussed how we should keep safe during bonfire night and then the children had lots of bonfire/firework activities to do.   We made chocolate finger sparklers, small firework pictures with glue and glitter and a big firework

After receptions sharing assembly we continued to have a ‘Super me’ day.  The children were very busy dancing to the superhero songs, drawing and writing about their favourite superhero, joining in with superhero counting and they were all very keen to make Panda and George a super hero mask.  We

In reception we have been learning about healthy and unhealthy food.  We sorted a shopping bag full of items and then made our own healthy fruit kebabs.  We enjoyed chopping up the fruit, learning about it and tasting it.  

Reception visited Whickham library on Wednesday.  When we got there we listened to a story and then got to look at some books that we chose ourselves. At the end we all got a ‘Book start’ folder with books inside for us to keep.  We all had a great time at the library!  Thank you to all the adult

We love going to the trim trail and MUGA, the children enjoy balancing on the trim trail and tyres as well as using P.E equipment and building dens! 

We have enjoyed decorating our ‘Super me’ boxes in school and sharing the items inside that make us super.  We found out that the children in reception have lots of things that make them super, from super footballers to super friends.  

The children in Reception stayed at school today for their school dinner.  They walked over to the canteen very sensibly and ate all their dinner up!  Well done Reception!!  

Reception have had a fantasic week at school! They have enjoyed exploring all the different areas in Reception and making new friends.
