We have been learning all about how our circulatory system works and how important heart health is for everyone.
This half term, Year Six have delved into the amazing workings of the human body and discovered tons of amazing facts such as… we have approximately 20 the 30 trillion blood cells working in our body… each blood cell works 24 hours a day, carrying oxygen, nutrients and energy around our body… our muscular heart beats on average over two billion beats in a lifetime! Wow – our bodies really are incredible machines!
Today, we carried out an investigation into the effects of different types of exercise on our pulse rate. We looked at which ones made our heart and circulatory system work the hardest.
Also, just like professional athletes and sportspeople would do, we monitored our recovery rate after exercise and used breathing techniques to speed up this process.
There was lots of science learning but also lots of red faces!
