Start of the School Day
There will be a ‘soft-drop’ start to the day between 8:40am and 8.55am for all children in Reception to Year 6. It is essential that parents/carers understand that we want a natural staggered drop-off. Please don’t all rush for 8:40am. Registration is 8.55am. We ask Reception parents for now to enter school via Nursery gate to avoid overcrowding.
Our existing one-way system will continue. In the mornings, children in KS2 should be encouraged to come on to the school site themselves so that parents/carers then do not have to come on site. IN ORDER TO REDUCE NUMBERS ON THE SITE, ONLY ONE ADULT SHOULD DROP OFF OR COLLECT, DAILY.

We appreciate that parents with siblings will have to wait in designated collection points until that year group exits school at their finish time.
Uniform
Children will return to school in normal uniform. (no earrings).
Remote Learning
In the event of a pupil testing positive for Covid 19 and self-isolating, pupils will revert to Remote Learning if they are well enough to complete school work. This will usually be accessed via Google Classroom or communicated to the parent via the teacher email. The class email addresses will remain a point of contact between yourself and the class teacher. For more details, please see our school website’s ‘Remote Learning’ page.
Break times:
regular rest breaks, play time and lunch times will happen in phases.
Hand Washing
Regular hand washing will continue. If children want to bring their own sanitiser and/or hand cream that is fine. Children in Key Stage 1 will wash hands on entry, KS2 children will sanitise at the designated stations before entering the building.
Curriculum
As the children have been through quite a traumatic time and have missed out on socialising, interacting with peers, being part of a class etc we will be focussing upon their Mental Wellbeing and Mental Health as well as ‘getting back to basics’. It is really important that we re-establish routines and rebuild relationships.

We have had to make an amendment to our behaviour policy due to COVID guidance. This can be found on our school website.
MESSAGES FOR PARENTS
Parents/Carers, Please help us to keep Front Street a safe environment by co-operating with government guidance and adhere to the following:
- DO NOT enter the school setting if YOU are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID-19 or are otherwise required to self-isolate or quarantine.
- Ensure your child does not attend school if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID-19 or need to quarantine.
- Inform the school if their child tests positive for COVID-19.
- Be ready and willing to book a COVID-19 test if their child/anyone in the household develops symptoms of COVID-19.
- Inform the school of the results of any COVID-19 testing within the household.
- Ensure that their child only brings essential items from home
- Read and understand school’s behaviour policy and expectations for pupils in relation to COVID-19.
- Not to enter the school premises without a pre-arranged appointment, and to follow school procedures whilst on site.
- When on school grounds:
- Not to gather and to maintain social distancing at all times.
- Wear a mask/face covering unless exempt if you choose to.
- Remain 2m from other adults and school staff.
- Adequately supervise children whilst waiting for siblings.
- Observe the allocated drop off and collection times for your child and how to do this (which entrance to use and where to stand etc).
- To park considerately outside school and maintain social distancing at all times including staying in their vehicle until their pupil’s allotted pick up/drop off time.
- To ensure that only 1 parent/carer attends school if the pupil needs accompanying.
Lateral Flow Testing Kits for Parents
Households with primary school, secondary school and college age children, including childcare and support bubbles, can test themselves twice every week at home. Households, childcare and support bubbles of primary, secondary and college staff can also be tested. Twice-weekly testing will also be offered to adults working in the wider school community, including bus drivers and after school club leaders. The twice-weekly test kits can be accessed:

Message from Public Health Team Gateshead
Lateral flow device testing is a fast and simple way to test people who do not have symptoms of coronavirus, but who may still be spreading the virus.
If anyone in your household has coronavirus symptoms they should Get a test to check if you have coronavirus on GOV.UK or by ringing 119.
Lateral flow test kits should only be used by the person they were issued to. If you have a child in secondary school who is testing themselves at home the tests must not be used by anyone else in the household e.g. a sibling or parent.
Similarly, if you have access to lateral flow tests through your workplace you should not use these to test your children at home.
